Culture and Events Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Culture and events officer to join our dedicated Culture and events team. You will develop cultural initiatives and manage and deliver a relevant programme of events.

We are looking for someone who has experience in the design and management of events and cultural projects and an awareness of the associated health and safety considerations. You will work with artists, partners, community groups and service providers to deliver the Lord Mayor’s Weekend and other key city events. You will be an excellent communicator and team player with experience of working in partnership to deliver projects to tight deadlines.

The post holder is required to complete a DBS check, hold a valid driving licence and must be available to work occasional evenings, weekends and bank holidays to meet the needs of the service.

Responsibilities

 Festivals and events

  • Under the direction of the culture and events manager develop and coordinate a program of city festivals and events in partnership with the cultural sector
  • Provide creative input into and develop new and existing activities
  • Coordinate and devise plans, schedules and reviews for event activities
  • Sourcing, booking and managing all resources required
  • Identify staff requirements, interview, select and contract all temporary staff required, produce detailed schedules and briefing notes
  • Manage activities on site.

Open Spaces

  • Coordinate the hiring of open spaces for community and cultural activities
  • Maintain accurate records of all hire agreements
  • Keep updated and administer booking procedures, contracts and payments, update procedures
  • Ensure appropriate use of Open Spaces

 Financial and procurement

  • Under the direction of the culture and events manger allocate event budgets to services and entertainment
  • Negotiate for best value
  • Contract entertainment, services and equipment for events
  • Maintain inventories and stock control
  • Administer and audit ticket sales for event   
  • Maintain records and audit information
